Sparkill, N.Y. (3/31/26) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team was upended by cross town rival St. Thomas Aquinas College this afternoon on Spartan Field.
The Chargers fall to 3-8 after the loss while the Spartans improve to 3-7 overall.
DU starting goalkeeper Nicholas Creisher made seven saves but suffered the loss. Bryce Layton and Jake Mahan also saw time in net with Layton making six saves and Mahan making three saves.
STAC startin goalkeeper Hayden Gaudette made nine saves and picked up the win. Jaden Heltzel made four saves.
STAC scored the first eight goals of the game with five in the first quarter and then the first three of the second.
Goals by Steven Dupras and Chad Keyser got the Chargers on the board in the second but trailed 9-2 at halftime.
Domincan opened the third quarter strong scoring four unanswered goals to pull within three goals at 9-6.
STAC answered with three unanswered to finish the third quarter and took a 12-6 lead into the fourth.
The Spartans outscored the Chargers 6-2 in the fourth quarter on their way to the 18-8 victory.
Keyser finished with a hat trick while Sean Cosgrove scored twice. Zachary Souza and Jack Sherry each added one goal.
Evan Dupras and Jakob Jason each dished out two assists while Nickolas Paletta added one assist.
The Chargers return to action and conference play on the road against Caldwell University Thursday afternoon.
