MEN'S LACROSSE EDGED BY TIGERS IN OT
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/25/26) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team was edged in overtime to CACC foe Holy Family University by a score of 14-13 this afternoon on O'Brien Field.
After the loss, the Chargers fall to 3-6 overall and 0-3 in conference play. The Tigers improve to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the CACC.
The game got off to a fast offensive start with nine total goals scored in the opening frame.
Dominican jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Tigers got two goals back to cut the deficit to 3-2. Nickolas Paletta scored his first of the game to push Dominican's lead to 4-2, but the Tigers scored three unanswered goals to take a 5-4 lead into the second quarter.
Eight seconds into the second quarter, Jake Feeney scoreed his second consecutive goal. Goals by Chad Keyser and Sean Cosgrove tied the game at 6-6 and the scored remained by halftime.
Another big quarter offensivley in the third quarter saw both teams combine for 10 goals, five a piece.
Both teams traded goals to begin the fourth quarter and it was Zachary Souza who put the Chargers ahead 13-12 with 6:00 left to play.
With 16 ticks left, Parker Smith scored his third goal of them and tied the game at 13-13 as the game then went to overtime.
Just 16 seconds into the OT period, Noah Simpson netted the game winning goal on a man up opportunity for the Tigers as they edged the Chargers 14-13.
For the Chargers, Evan Dupras and Sean Cosgrove each finished with a hat trick. Dupras also picked up two assists and four groundballs.
Zachary Souza, Nickolas Paletta, and Chad Keyser each scored twice. Keyser also dished out two assists.
Cameron Elsdon picked up a team-high six groundballs. Nicholas Cupelli scored once and added one assist.
Goalkeeper Kyle Janks made 19 saves but suffered the loss.
The Chargers return to action this Saturday when they host Post University at 1:00 PM on O'Brien Field.
