CHARGERS UPEND FIREBIRDS IN HOME OPENER
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/11/26) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team defeated the Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia in their home opener this afternoon on O'Brien Field.
The Chargers improve to 2-2 overall while the Firebirds fall to 0-3.
UDC opened the scoring when Myles Henry scored his first goal of the game after just over one minute of play.
It was all DU after the opening goal as the Chargers finished the first quarter with seven straight goals. Dominican followed the first quarter with three goals in the second and four in the third.
Myles Henry scored his second goal of the game in the fourth quarter, but Dominican completed the 14-2 victory.
Chad Keyser and Steven Dupras combined for seven goals. Keyser scored a team-high four goals, all in the first half, while adding two assists. Steven Dupras finished with three goals and picked up one groundball.
Sean Cosgrove and Zachary Souza each finished with two goals. Cosgrove picked up three groundballs while Souza added two groundballs and one assist.
Jack Sherry and Evan Dupras each scored one goal. Evan Dupras dished out a team-high four assists. Cameron Elsdon picked up a team-high four groundballs while Cosgrove and Michael Aufiero each led the way in caused turnovers with two. Elsdon went 6-12 on faceoffs.
Starting goalkeeper Nicholas Creisher made seven saves and picked up the win in 34:21 of action. Kyle Janks made two saves in 10:39 of action while Bryce Layton and Jake Mahan each picked up one save.
Nicholas Bazzini made two saves.
The Chargers return to action tomorrow afternoon when they host American International College at 4:00 PM.
