VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS NYACK COLLEGE
Nyack, NY (11/1/11) The Dominican College women's volleyball team improved to 18-13 overall and end the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference regular season with a record of 13-6 after winning a tough road game against North Division rival, Nyack College, 3-1, this evening in a match played at Bowman Gymnasium.
Nyack, NY (11/1/11) The Dominican College women's volleyball team improved to 18-13 overall and end the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference regular season with a record of 13-6 after winning a tough road game against North Division rival, Nyack College, 3-1, this evening in a match played at Bowman Gymnasium.
Dominican trailed 9-8 in set one when a Warrior run of 9-4 put them ahead 18-12 en route to a 25-20 win. DC rallied in set two as they held an 8-7 lead and went on a 12-7 run to go up 20-14 and cruised to the 25-19 set two win to tie the match at 1-1.
With the third set tied at 4-all, the Lady Chargers went on a 13-4 tear to take a 17-8 lead and came away with a 25-21 win. In the fourth set with the score 17-17, DC went on to score the next eight of nine points for the 25-18 win and 3-1 match victory.
Junior outside hitter Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) led the team with 14 kills and tallied 10 digs. Freshman Kayla Dexter (Selah, WA) had eight kills for a .600 attack percentage, while Courtney Heard (Ventura, CA) also had eight kills.
Setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) had seven kills, a match leading 35 assists and 11 digs, while libero Jordyn Fuller* (Keller, TX) led the way with a match leading 20 digs.
DC returns to action next Tuesday in a CACC Tournament Quarter-Final match to be played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. Match time is slated for 7pm.
