WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL DOWNS CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE
Philadelphia, PA (10/11/11) The Dominican College women's volleyball team downed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent, Chestnut Hill College, 3-0 in a match played this evening. With the win, Dominican improves to 12-10 overall and 8-3 in the CACC, while Chestnut Hill falls to 9-14 overall and 4-7 in conference play.
The Griffins took an early 2-0 in the first set, but DC answered back with an 11-4 run to gain an 11-6 advantage. Dominican would lead by as many as eight points en route to the 25-20 win.
The Lady Chargers never trailed in set two and took an early 12-4 lead. CHC came back to tie the set at 17-all, but Dominican regrouped to outscore Chestnut Hill 8-5 over the next 12 points for the 25-22 victory and take a 2-0 match lead.
Trailing 12-9 in set three, Dominican rallied with a 10 unanswered points to go ahead 19-12 and cruised to the 25-16 win and 3-0 match victory.
Junior Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) led the Lady Chargers with 12 kills and had 11 defensive digs. Libero Jordyn Fuller (Keller, TX) had a team leading 17 digs, while setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) added a match leading 32 assists and nine kills in the win.
Dominican returns to action Thursday evening when they host CACC foe, Concordia College at 7pm on Coach Baxter Court.
