WOMEN'S BASKETBALL UPEND WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, NY (1/28/12) The Dominican College women's basketball team upended the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University, 60-52, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the victory, Dominican improves to 9-7 overall and 9-2 in conference play, while Wilmington falls to 1-14 overall and 0-10 in the CACC.

The Lady Chargers jumped out to a 14-2 lead with ten and a half minutes to go in the first half as guard Shannon Lavelle (Floral Park, NY) hit a three point basket. Lavelle connected again with a trey to make the score 30-13 with just under three minutes as Dominican headed into the break with a 30-18 lead.
Over the first almost eight minutes of the second half, DC outscored WU, 17-6, to go ahead 47-24 and never looked back en route to the 60-52 victory.
KC Jentzen (Nanuet, NY) led the Lady Chargers as she came off the bench to score 12 points, shooting 5-7 from the floor. Lavelle finished with nine points, while Bianca Harris (Teaneck, NJ) also netted nine points and grabbed a game leading 10 rebounds. Senior Kaity Lent (Vineland, NJ) also scored nine points.
DC returns to action on Monday evening when they travel to non-conference opponent, New York Institute of Technology.
