Lakewood, N.J. (3/20/26) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team fell in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action to the Lions of Georgian Court University, 17-7, this afternoon in a game played at the GCU Track & Field Complex.
Following the loss, the Chargers are now 3-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
GCU scored the first goal of the game, but sophomore Steven Dupras countered with a goal off the pass from brother Evan Dupras to make the score 1-1 with 9:47 remaining in the first quarter. The Lions then went on a 4-0 run to take a 5-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Like the first quarter, GCU opened the second with the first goal to extend the lead to 6-1. Sophomore Nicholas Cupelli broke the run with an assisted goal. Senior Chad Keyser would follow with the next two goals, one off the pass from E. Dupras to cut the deficit to 6-4. Georgian Court closed out the quarter with back-to-back goals to increase the lead 8-4 at the break.
The Lions added three more goals in the third and began the fourth with three straight goals to extend the lead to 14-4. Senior Sean Cosgrove broke the run with an unassisted goal with just under 12 minutes left in the game and about three and a half minutes later Cupelli netted his second game goal to make the score 15-6.
Dominican's final goal came on a man-up opportunity as senior Zachary Souza found the back of the net. GCU closed out the game with the final goal for the 17-7 win.
Nicholas Creisher saw 47:41 minutes of action in the CHarger net and made 15 saves. Kyle Janks came in for the final 12:19 and made two saves in the loss.
The Chargers return to action next Wednesday when they host Holy Family University on O'Brien Field.
