San Rafael, Calif. (3/4/26) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team picked up their first win of the season this afternoon over the Penguins of Dominican University (California).
The Chargers improve to 1-1 overall while DUC falls to 0-4 overall.
A low scoring first half saw the Chargers take a 3-2 lead into halftime.
Each team scored four goals in the third quarter. The Chargers held a 5-3 lead and DUC scored three unanswered goals to take a 6-5 lead.
Back to back goals by Nickolas Paletta and Sean Cosgrove put the Chargers back on top by the start of the fourth quarter.
Both teams traded the first couple goals of the fourth quarter, but it was the Chargers who finished the game with three unanswered goals and secured the 11-8 win.
Evan Dupras scored three goals, all in the fourth quarter. Chad Keyser and Nickolas Paletta also scored three goals each. Paletta added four groundballs and two assists while Keyser picked up two groundballs.
Ian McDow scored one goal and picked up one assist while Sean Cosgrove also scored one goal and caused two turnovers.
Cameron Elsdon picked up a team-high five groundballs while Michael Aufiero added a team-high three caused turnovers. Elsdon also won a team-high eight faceoffs.
Goalkeeper Nicholas Creisher picked up his first win in net for the Chargers and recorded 13 saves.
The Chargers wrap up their California trip on Saturday when they take on Northwest Nazarene at 2:00 PM EST.
