Rindge, N.H. (2/28/26) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team was edged in overtime by a a score of 10-9 in their season opener against Franklin Pierce University this afternoon.
Dominican opens the season 0-1 overall while the Ravens improve to 1-1 overall on the season.
After falling behind 1-0, the Chargers scored three straight to finish the opening quarter with a 3-1 lead. Both teams traded goals in the second quarter which included two goals by DU's Chad Keyser and the Chargers held a 6-5 lead by halftime.
Keyser scored all three second half goals for the Chargers which included the go ahead goal with 7:16 remaing in the fourth quarter.
A goal by Chris Hunt tied the score at 9-9 with 6:21 left to play and the score remained as the game went to overtime.
The Ravens sealed the 10-9 win after Michael Lawler scored the game winner at 3:23 in the OT period.
Keyser led all scorers with six goals which matches a career high. Keyser also caused two turnovers and picked up one groundball.
Nickolas Paletta found the back of the net twice while Sean Cosgrove scored one goal and picked up one assist. Cosgrove also led the Chargers in groundballs with four.
Zachary Souza added a team-high two assists while Evan Dupras and Nate Melnick each added one assist.
GK Nicholas Creisher made 21 saves but suffered the loss.
Dominican returns to action this Wednesday when they visit Dominican (California) at 3:00 PM EST.
