2012 Dominican College Women's Cross Country Season Summary
The women’s cross country team was led by a veteran squad in the 2012 season with two seniors, three juniors, two sophomores and one freshman. The Lady Chargers took fourth place at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships and missed the third place spot by only a point.
In the seven events the team competed in, they had two top-five finishes as a team. DC took fourth at the CACC Championships and fifth place at the St. John’s University Fall Festival. The Lady Chargers had a total of four top-ten finishes with the team taking ninth place at the Delaware Valley College Invitational and tenth at the Fordham Fiasco.
At the CACC Championships, rookie Carolina Cassin Silva was the top finisher for the Lady Chargers with a time of 20:41 to finish in seventh place and earn All-CACC recognition.
The team also had two other runners finish in the top twenty as juniors Krystal Campbell finished in 16th place with a time of 21:24 and Jessica Avila ran a time of 21:40 to finish in 19th place.
Cassin Silva had a stellar rookie season with three top ten finishes, including a second place finish at St. John’s University Fall Festival.
Campbell also ran well all season for the Lady Chargers with two top ten finishes.
With the loss of seniors Sharria Brent and Ashley Hodges, head coach Abdias Suero will look to a strong core of returning runners to lead the team in the 2013 season.
