2009 Domincian College Women's Cross Country Season Summary

The 2009 women's cross country team featured a brand new roster, with only one returner from the 2008 season.  Second year head Coach Abidas Suero led the Lady Chargers to their best finish at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships in program history.

On top of bringing in a recruiting class of ten runners to the team, Suero also added two members to his staff; Assistant Coach Matthew Cotter and Volunteer Coach Luis Garcia.

DC competed in six events this season and finished in the top ten in five of the events.  Dominican won the Red Storm Classic, finished third at the CACC Championships, seventh at the Cabrini Invitational, ninth at the NYIT Running of the Bears and tenth at the Belmont  Classic.

Freshman Julia Miller finished eighth individually at the CACC Championships and was named to the All-CACC Team for her efforts.  She also took the top spot as an individual at the Red Storm Classic.

Sophomore captain Samantha Klunk was consistent all season and finished as high as second place at the Red Storm Classic.

Fellow sophomore Sarah Dungandzic and freshmen Schae Auffant and Rolanda Senior all had strong finishes to the season in leading the team to a third place finish at the CACC Championships.

With the return of Miller and Klunk, the Lady Chargers will return a strong nucleus of runners for the 2010 season.
