ST. THOMAS AQUINAS SPARTANS WIN DOMINICAN COLLEGE INVITATIONAL

Orangeburg, NY (10/13/08)  The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's cross country team won the 2008 Dominican College Cross Country Invitational which was held at Tallman Mountain State Park this afternoon.

The Spartans edged the Bloomfield College Deacons by two points to take the team title with a combined score of 42.  BC finished with 44 points, followed by Caldwell College with a team score 69 points.  Host Dominican College did not place as a team due to an injury.

Bloomfield's Mercy Puma took the individual title with a time of 23:26, followed by Dominican's Samantha Klunk with a time of 23:57 and Spartans Sarah Callagy and Lisa Breugoel ran times of 24:12 and 25:09 to round out the top four individual finishers.

Freshman Meghan Murphy finished second for Dominican with a time of 27:41 while sophomore Kristen Haycook finished in 11th place overall with a time of 28:16.  Freshman Kaitlin Lent

The Lady Chargers are back in action this Sunday at the St. John's College Fall Festival.
