(10/15/12) Wilmington senior Nicole Wiechecki (Wilmington, Del.) has been recognized as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Player of the Week, for the period ending Oct. 14. Dominican’s Tori Dexter (Selah, Wash.) claimed the Rookie of the Week honor for the second time this season.

CACC VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
NICOLE WIECHECKI, WILMINGTON (Sr., OH, Wilmington, Del.)
Hit .333 (29-7-66) and averaged 3.22 kills per set while leading the Wildcats to a perfect 3-0 week that included victories over three CACC foes. Also recorded team-highs with 32 digs and 11 service aces over the three matches. Posted a .500 (13-2-22) hitting mark at Felician and posted five aces vs. Georgian Court. Currently ranks first among CACC leaders with 49 aces on the season.
CACC VOLLEYBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
TORI DEXTER, DOMINICAN (Fr., OH, Selah, Wash.)
Posted a team-best 35 kills while guiding the Chargers to a 3-0 mark last week, which included CACC wins over Nyack, Concordia and USciences. Hit. 291 (35-10-86) over the three matches and notched 29 digs, four blocks and four service aces. This marks the second time this season that Dexter has garnered the conference's rookie of the week honor.

SUSAN MCDONOUGH, CALDWELL (Sr., OH, Saline, Mich.)
Hit. 389 (35-7-72) while averaging 3.89 kills and 3.78 digs per set over the Cougars' 3-0 week. She posted a double-double in all three matches.
ALEXANDRA DEPALMA, CHESTNUT HILL (Jr., OH, Shillington, Pa.)
Posted 34 kills, 36 digs and eight blocks over three matches last week for the Griffins. Recorded double-double efforts vs. Georgian Court and Goldey-Beacom.
COURTNEY HEARD, DOMINICAN (Sr., OH, Ventura, Calif.)
Registered a .315 (33-10-73) hitting percentage in a 3-0 week for the Chargers. Tallied a career-best 18 kills in win at USciences (10/13).
RACHEL BIRO, CHESTNUT HILL (Fr., MH, Nazareth, Pa.)
Recorded 32 kills and nine blocks over three matches last week.
CACC VOLLEYBALL TEAM NOTES
BLOOMFIELD - Sophomore Karol Oliveros (Newark, N.J.) averaged 1.33 kills, 4.33 assists and 1.67 digs per set over the Lady Deacons' three-match week, notching a 23-asst, 12-dig double-double in the club's loss to Concordia College Tuesday night. Senior Allison Hart (Pagosa Springs, Co.) averaged 3.92 assists and 2.08 digs per set for the week, matching Oliveros with a 23-assist, 11-dig double-double in the match against Concordia. Senior Da'Cheray Thomas (Newark, N.J.) returned from injury to post a season-high 19 kills in the loss to Concordia, also leading the club with nine kills in the loss to Georgian Court University to Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Deandra Black (East Brunswick, N.J.) averaged 2.42 kills per set for the week, totaling a career-high 16 kills in the five-set loss to Concordia Tuesday. Rookie Josie Rezende (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) posted back-to-back double-digit dig performances this week, notching a career-high 11 digs in the team's loss to Caldwell College Friday night.
CALDWELL - The Cougars picked up three CACC victories last week without losing a set, sweeping Felician, Bloomfield and Goldey-Beacom. Senior outside hitter Susan McDonough registered a double-double in each match, including a 15-kill, 10-dig performance at Goldey-Beacom. Junior middle blocker had a strong week with 13 blocks, six of them coming against the Lightning. Junior setter Lisa Roth averaged 10.78 assists per set for the week, as the Cougars hit a combines .297 in the three wins. Caldwell hosts Post on Wednesday and Nyack on Friday before playing at Wilmington on Saturday.
CHESTNUT HILL - The Griffins managed came out of another tough week of CACC competition with a 1-2 record. After an enduring 3-0 loss to Georgian Court University on Tuesday, October 9, the Griffins responded with a 3-1 win at Goldey-Beacom College on Thursday, October 11. The ended the week with a 3-0 loss at Post University on Saturday, October 13.
CONCORDIA - Concordia grabbed a 3-2 win at Bloomfield last Tuesday before dropping back-to-back matches to Dominican and Holy Family on Friday and Saturday, 3-1. The Clippers are currently 3-14 overall and 3-8 in CACC play as they are currently 5th in the CACC North Division standings. For the upcoming week, Concordia will host Post on Tuesday, Felician on Wednesday and Philadelphia U. on Saturday.
DOMINICAN - The Lady Chargers extended their winning streak to 10 straight matches after going 3-0 in action this week. The winning streak extends back to September 19th when they defeated Nyack College at home. DC now stands at 16-7 overall and 12-0 in conference play.
FELICIAN - Felician will host its Third Annual "Dig Pink" event for breast cancer awareness at its Oct. 19 home match against Bloomfield.
GOLDEY-BEACOM - The Lightning dropped all three of their matches last week, including a pair of three-set sweeps. Now 4-15 overall and 0-11 in the CACC, the Lightning suffered three-set losses against Wilmington and Caldwell along with a four-set defeat against Chestnut Hill on Thursday. Entering this week's action, the Lightning have lost 12 straight matches. Goldey-Beacom's last win came on Sept. 13, a three-set victory at Bowie State. Sophomore outside hitter Kadi McCoy led the Lightning last week with 40 kills and 45 digs, including a pair of "double double" performances. After being limited to five kills against Wilmington, the Dallastown, Pa. native exploded for a career-high 23 kills and a season-high 22 digs against Chestnut Hill on Thursday. She also became the seventh player in school history to record at least 500 career kills. In Saturday's loss against Caldwell, McCoy tallied 12 kills with 7 digs. The Lightning will have a very busy week ahead with four matches in five days, including three road contests.
PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia (14-6, 8-3 CACC) had a busy, yet successful week by posting a perfect 4-0 mark. The Lady Rams opened with 3-0 victories over the University of the Sciences and East Stroudsburg on Oct. 9. Twenty-four hours later, Philadelphia knocked off Millersville, 3-1. Ellie Edgar had 11 kills in the four-set win. The week ended with a 3-1 conference win at Nyack. Brittany Olson had 13 kills, while Danielle Carney had 10. This week, the Lady Rams host Wilmington on the 16th and head to Holy Family on the 19th and Concordia on the 20th.
USCIENCES - The Devils have three matches on tap this week as they try and snap a three-game losing streak (their longest of the season)...Sciences starts the week at Cheyney University on Tuesday before returning home to face Chestnut Hill on Saturday. The Devils end the week with a rare Saturday evening match at Bloomfield College. Stacey Wooden (Levittown, Pa.) set a Devils 3-set match record with 25 digs in the Devils loss to Philadelphia University last Tuesday... Wooden also moved into 3rd place on the Devils all time digs list last week, with 65 digs on the week to give her 1,485 for her career...The senior libero also became the ninth player in Devils history to record 100 career aces, getting four against Dominican on Saturday to give her 101 for her career....Junior Diana Solomon (East Islip, N.Y.) also moved up two notches on the Devils all time digs list to 11th all-time, recording 59 for the week to give her 654 for her career.
WILMINGTON - The Wildcats extended their season long win streak to 10 straight matches with a 3-0 week, sweeping Goldey-Beacom and Georgian Court at home before sweeping Felician on the road on Saturday. During their 10-match win streak, the Wildcats are 30-4 in sets played. Nicole Wiechecki led the Wildcats with 29 kills, 32 digs, 10 aces and 40.5 points. Katie Shorter continued to add to her CACC lead in blocking, collecting 12 more in eight sets. She had four solo and eight block assists, averaging 1.50 per set. Kaitlin DiGiacinto set a new career best with 20 digs against Goldey-Beacom. Freshman Alex Siolos filled the stat sheet with seven kills, 14 assists, seven digs and three aces against Felician. The Wildcats will put their 10-match overall win streak, and their perfect CACC record on the line three times this week, first at Philadelphia on Wednesday before heading to Chestnut Hill on Friday. They face Caldwell on Saturday in their lone home match of the week.
