Wilmington, DE (10/29/11) The Dominican College women's volleyball team defeated Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe, Goldey-Beacom College, 3-1, and edge non-conference opponent, Mercy College, 3-2, in matches played this afternoon at Goldey-Beacom College.
Match One: Junior outside hitter Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) led the Lady Chargers with the double-double of 13 kills and 10 defensive digs. Courtney Heard (Ventura, CA) added 11 kills, while setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) recorded a match leading 43 assists. Libero Jordyn Fuller* (Keller, TX) had a team leading 23 digs, while N'Jameh Philip (Monroe, NY) had 13 digs.
DC won the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-16, before falling in set three, 23-25. In set four, the Lady Chargers picked up a 25-21 win for the 3-1 match victory.
Match Two: Heard led Dominican in the 3-2 victory over Mercy with 10 kills. Fiorvanti added nine kills and 11 digs, while Ranger had seven kills and a match leading 31 assists. Fuller led the team with 18 digs, while Philip added 11 digs.
With the victories Dominican improves to 17-13 overall and 12-6 in the CACC.
Dominican returns to action Tuesday evening in the final game of the regular season with a CACC North Division clash at Nyack College. Match time is set for 7pm.
