WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY EDGES WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
New Castle, DE (10/15/11) The Wilmington University Wildcats edged the visiting Dominican College women's volleyball team, 3-2, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match With the loss Dominican falls to 13-11 overall and 9-4 in conference play, while Wilmington improves to 13-7 overall and 9-4 in the CACC.

The Lady Chargers never trailed in set one and led by as many as six points (17-11) en route to a 25-20 win. DC was up 15-10 in set two when a 6-2 'Cat run cut the deficit to 17-16. Later tied 22, WU scored the next three points for a 25-22 victory.
Tied 25-25 in the third set, junior N'Jameh Philip (Monroe, NY) served the final two points which saw WU attack errors and lift Dominican to the 27-25 win and 2-1 match lead.
The fourth set was tied 10-all when the 'Cats went on a 6-0 run to go up 16-10 and would never lose their lead as they won the set 25-22. In the decisive fifth set with the Dominican up 8-7, Wilmington scored eight unanswered points for a 15-8 win and 3-2 match victory.
Junior outside hitter Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) led all attackers with a season high 20 kills and added 20 digs. Sophomore Randi Garrett (Rockledge, FL) tallied 10 kills, while libero Jordyn Fuller* (Keller, TX) had a team leading 22 digs.
Setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) led the match with 45 assists, while Courtney Heard (Ventura, CA) added eight kills.
Dominican is back in action on Tuesday evening when they travel to CACC foe, Caldwell College, for a 7pm match.
