LADY CHARGERS VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS CALDWELL COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (10/4/11) The Dominican College women's volleyball team bested the visiting Cougars of Caldwell College, 3-1 this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division clash on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the win Dominican improves to 10-9 overall and 6-2 in the conference, while Caldwell drops to 13-3 overall and 9-1 in the CACC.

With the win Dominican improves to 10-9 overall and 6-2 in the conference, while Caldwell drops to 13-3 overall and 9-1 in the CACC.
The Cougars never trailed in set one and won, 25-17. Dominican rebound in the second set after jumping out to a 7-2 lead. CC came back to tie the set at 15-all, but a 6-1 Lady Charger run regained a 21-16 lead as they cruised to the 25-19 victory.
Tied 5-5 in set three, Dominican went on to outscore Caldwell, 6-2, over the next eight points to pull ahead 11-7 and would never trail again en route to the 25-23 win and take a 2-1 match lead.
The fourth set was tied 14-14 when DC went on a 7-3 run to go up 21-17. Later kills by Randi Garrett (Rockledge, FL) and Kayla Dexter (Selah, WA) put Dominican two points away from match point (23-18), but a side out by Caldwell made the score 23-19. Another big kill by Dexter put the Lady Chargers at match point, but a Cougar kill brought the score to 24-20. Dexter recorded the game-winning kill off the assist by Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) for the 25-20 win and 3-1 match victory.
Junior Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) was one of two Lady Chargers to record a double-double 15 kills and 18 digs on the night. Dexter finished with 10 kills, while Courtney Heard (Ventura, CA) added eight kills. Ranger finished with the double-double of 39 assists and 10 digs and N'Jameh Philip (Monroe, NY) had 11 digs.
Dominican returns to action on Thursday when they travel to Concordia College for a 6pm CACC match.
