LADY CHARGERS SOCCER TURN BACK BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE
Orange, NJ (10/28/11) The Dominican College women's soccer team extended their winning streak to five games after defeating host, Bloomfield College, 4-2, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game. With the win, Dominican improves to 7-6-1 overall and 6-4-1 in the CACC, while Bloomfield falls to 2-15 overall and 0-11 in the conference.
Sophomore forward Olivia Antonopoulos (Baldwin, NY) led the Lady Charger offense with three goals and one assist on the afternoon.
Antonopoulos netted her first goal of the contest in the 22nd minute of play off the corner kick assist by Jamilyn Snyder (Lacey, NJ). One minute and 25 seconds into the second half Antonopoulos struck for her second goal on a shot from 30 yards out for a 2-0 DC lead.
A Deacon goal made the score 2-1, but Antonopoulos completed the hat trick with her third goal of the game at the 77:57 mark on a shot just inside the 18 off the pass from Snyder.
A Bloomfield penalty kick made the score 3-2, but Dominican added an insurance goal in the 84th minute as Snyder scored her seventh goal of the season off the pass from Antonopoulos for the eventual 4-2 victory.
The Deacons out shot the Lady Chargers, 16-9 and also held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Lady Charger keeper Kaitlyn Hertz (Voorhees, NJ) made six saves in the victory.
Dominican is back in action tomorrow morning in the final regular season game as they take on Post University at the DC Soccer Field. Game time is set for 11am.
