West Haven, CT (9/4/11) The Dominican College women's soccer team lost a non-conference game to host, the University of New Haven, 6-1 this afternoon in a game played on Kayo Field. Following the loss, the Lady Chargers now stand at 0-2 on the season.
The Lady Chargers took an early 1-0 lead in the third minute of action as freshman midfielder Jennifer Becker (Hawthorne, NJ) netted the team's first goal of the season using one touch to put the ball past the UNH keeper.
New Haven tied the game in the 37th minute for a 1-1 score at the break.
In the second half, the UNH offense came alive tallying five more goals en route to the 6-1 victory.
Freshman goalie Kaitlyn Hertz (Voorhees, NJ) made five saves in 45:00 minutes in the net, while Veronica Iozzi (Chester, NJ) made six saves in the second half.
Dominican is back in action on Wednesday when they open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play with a home game against Post University at 3:30 pm.
