Lakewood, NJ (9/18/10) The Dominican College women's soccer team suffered a tough 2-1 overtime loss to host Georgian Court University, 2-1 today in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's soccer action.
The Lions took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute of action on a breakaway goal and held that lead until the 81:53 mark when freshman Olivia Antonopoulos (Baldwin, NY) recorded her fifth goal of the season off the assist from Danielle Klecha (Jamesburg, NJ) to tie the game at 1-1.
With seven seconds left in the first overtime, a foul in the box resulted in a red card issued to the DC keeper and a penalty kick for GCU. The Lions were able to convert the penalty kick for a goal which lifted them to the 2-1 victory.
The Lady Chargers outshot the Lions, 14-12 in the game, while the Lions held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Lady Charger keeper Kari Spicer (Littleton, CO) had four saves in 99:53 minutes of action.
With the loss Dominican now stands at 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Wednesday when they host Caldwell College in CACC contest slated for 3:30 pm on the DC Soccer Field.
