#6 WOMEN'S SOCCER UPENDS #3 CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE

Philadelphia, PA (11/3/09)  The sixth seeded Dominican College Lady Chargers soccer team upended the third seeded Griffins of Chestnut Hill College, 2-1 this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) quarter-final match up.

The Lady Chargers got on the board late in the first half as freshman defender Nicolle Sanchez (Lyndhurst, NJ) tallied the unassisted goal on a long shot after a Griffin foul in the 37th minute of action.

DC took a 2-0 lead at 57:38 when freshman forward Jamilyn Snyder (Lacey, NJ) took a pass to the right side of the field from junior Margaret Porter (Neptune, NJ) and put it in the left corner of the net.

The Griffins netted a goal in the 72nd minute of play for the 2-1 final.

Lady Charger goalie Valentina Sturchio (Stewartsville, NJ) made four saves in the victory.

Dominican was on the offensive, outshooting Chestnut Hill, 22-14.  Both teams had three corner kicks each in the game.

With the victory Dominican improves to 9-5-4 overall and advances to the CACC Semi-Finals which will be held on Thursday, November 5th at Wilmington University.
