LADY CHARGERS SOCCER SOAR PAST POST UNIVERSITY EAGLES

Orangeburg, NY (10/30/09) The Dominican College women's soccer team soared past the visiting Eagles of Post University, 2-0 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action at the DC Soccer Field on Senior Day.
The Lady Chargers wasted no time getting on the board as junior midfielder Kristen Haycook (Point Pleasant, NJ) tallied her second goal of the season off the cross pass from sophomore Christina Occhipinti (Islip, NY).
At 35:24 CACC Player of the Week, Margaret Porter (Neptune, NJ) netted her 17th goal of the season off a rebounded shot from senior Rosa Centurion (Mamaroneck, NY) for the 2-0 final score.
Dominican keeper Valentina Sturchio (Stewartsville, NJ) made five saves in the victory.
Post goalie Elizabeth Johnson (Norwich, CT) made 12 saves in the loss.
DC outshot the Post, 19-9, while the Eagles held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
With the victory the Lady Chargers improve to 8-5-4 overall and 7-2-3 in the CACC, while Post falls to 5-13 overall and 3-9 in the CACC.
During halftime the team honored seniors Sara Cordaro (Wappingers Falls, NY), Michelle Cusano (Stony Point, NY), Sturchio and Centurion.
This was the last regular season game for the Lady Chargers who will take part in the CACC Tournament next week. The quarter-finals will be held on Tuesday at the higher seed. Game time is 2pm.
