WOMEN'S SOCCER BEATS NYACK COLLEGE

West Nyack, NY (10/28/09) The Dominican College women's soccer team improved to 7-5-4 overall and 6-2-3 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) after defeating host Nyack College, 4-3 this evening at Clarkstown South High School.

Senior Rosa Centurion (Mamaroneck, NY) opened up the scoring with an unassisted goal just two minutes into the game.

DC took a 2-0 lead at 9:33 when freshman defender Jade Fletcher (Ottawa, Canada) scored a goal from the 13 yard line off the header pass from junior Heather Augliera (Middletown, CT).

A Nyack goal just before halftime cut the Dominican lead to 2-1.

CACC Player of the Week, Margaret Porter (Neptune, NJ) regained a two goal advantage for DC at 49:16 as her shot went right through the Warrior keeper's hands.

A second Warrior goal once again cut the lead to a goal, 3-2.  Centurion answered back with her second goal of the game at 72:07 off a rebounded shot to put DC up 4-2.

Nyack closed out the scoring with a goal in the 77th minute for the final 4-3 Lady Charger victory.

Lady Charger keeper Valentina Sturchio (Stewartsville, NJ) made four saves in the win.

 

The loss drops the Warriors to 2-11-3 overall and 2-8-2 in CACC play.

Dominican is back in action on Friday when they host Post University at the DC Soccer Field for a 3:30 pm game.
