WOMEN'S SOCCER EDGE PHILADELPHIA UNIVERSITY

Orangeburg, NY (10/24/09)  Junior midfielder Margaret Porter (Neptune, NJ) netted two goals in the second half to lead the Dominican College women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over  the visiting Rams of Philadelphia University this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.

The Rams broke a 0-0 tie in the 50th minute of play as freshman forward Trisha Sileo (Islip, NY) scored a goal off a shot from the four yard line into the bottom right corner of the net off the assist from freshman Melissa Copeland (Islip Terrace, NY).

Porter tallied her first goal in the 61st minute as she fired a shot from the six yard line after the pass from junior Heather Augliera (Middletown, CT) to tie the game at 1-1.

The game winner goal came with just 39 seconds left in regulation as Porter netted her team and CACC leading 15th goal of the year off a rebound from a free kick from freshman Jamilyn Snyder (Lacey, NJ) for the 2-1 DC victory.

Dominican outshot Philadelphia 12-9, while both teams had four corner kicks each.

Lady Charger keeper Valentina Sturchio (Stewartsville, NJ) made one save in the victory.

Rams goalie Kelli (Kowaleski (Shamong, NJ) had six saves in the loss.

With the victory Dominican improves to 6-5-4 overall and 5-2-3 in the CACC, while Philadelphia falls to 10-4-3 overall and 8-2 in the CACC.

DC is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to CACC rival, Nyack College, for a 3pm game.
