Orangeburg, NY (9/5/09) The Dominican College women's soccer team charged past the visiting Bears from the New York Institute of Technology, 4-0 this afternoon in a non-conference game held at the DC Soccer Field.

Freshman Jodi Curtis (Palmerston, New Zealand) netted her first collegiate goal off the corner kick by fellow freshman Nicolle Sanchez (Lyndhurst, NJ) to give Dominican a 1-0 lead at the 25:10 mark.
Junior Kristen Haycook (Point Pleasant Boro, NJ) came off the bench to pick up her first collegiate goal at 31:06 off the double assist from Sanchez and junior midfielder Heather Augliera (Middletown, CT) to put the Lady Chargers up 2-0.
In the second half, junior midfielder Margaret Porter (Neptune, NJ) tallied her first of two unassisted goals as she dribbled the ball to about the two yard line and put it past a diving Bear goalie at 59:13. Porter's second goal of the game and third of the season came at 72:26 as she dribbled past the Bear defense and found the net as Dominican went on to the 4-0 victory.
Dominican outshot NYIT 15-13 and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks for the game.
Bear goalie Kathryn Miller (Dolestown, PA) made five saves in 72:26 minutes of action, while freshman Kristen O'Connor (Levittown, NY) had three saves in the final 17:34.
Lady Charger goalie Valentina Sturchio (Stewartsville, NJ) had three saves in the victory.
With the win Dominican improves to 1-1-1 overall, while NYIT falls to 1-3 on the season.
Dominican is back in action next Saturday as they open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play with a home game against Holy Family University. Game time is slated for 12pm at the DC Soccer Field.
