Bridgeport, CT  (9/18/07) The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team erupted for four second half goals en route to a 6-1 home non-conference win over Dominican (NY) College on Tuesday afternoon.  The win is the Purple Knights fourth in a row, and they are now 6-3-0 overall.  Dominican falls to 3-5-0 on the season.

Bridgeport began the second half with a slim 2-1 before freshman Linda Velaj (Stamford, CT) scored a pair of goals in the 57th and 74th minutes to break the game wide open.  The two goals are Velaj's fourth and fifth of the season.

Sophomores Chelsea Barbour (Clinton, CT) and Melanie Fernandes (Southbury, CT) scored the Purple Knights' final two second half goals.

Bridgeport got in the board first when sophomore Sofia Hoflin (Ostersund, Sweden) scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season in the third minute off the first of two assists in the game from classmate Emma Wooley (Sheffield, England).

The Lady Charger tied the game at 1-1 when Marie LaMaida (New Hyde Park, NY) scored in the 29th minute, but UB freshman Danielle Deschene (Salisbury, MA) scored with 36:08 gone in the match to give her team the lead which they never relinquish.  Deschene now has three goals on the year.

Bridgeport returns to action on Saturday, when they host C.W. Post in a key East Coast Conference match.  Dominican is back on the field this Thursday at Nyack.
