LADY CHARGERS SOCCER UPEND NYIT BEARS, 2-1

Blauvelt, NY (9/4/07)  The Dominican College women's soccer team picked up their first win of the 2007 season by upending the visiting New York Institute of Technology Bears, 2-1 this afternoon at the DC Soccer Field.

The Lady Chargers attacked early as junior forward Marie LaMaida (New Hyde Park, NY) took a rebound shot past a diving Bear keeper at 4:48 to give DC a 1-0 lead.

Sophomore Janet Mordeci (Pearl, River, NY) extended the Dominican lead just before the half taking the pass by junior Angela Correia (Elizabeth, NJ) to bring the Lady Charger lead to 2-0.

New York Institute of Technology got on the board late in the second half as sophomore Meghan Sguigna (Bethpage, NY) had a nice put back goal past DC keeper Rosa Centurion (Mamaroneck, NY) at 83:28 to make the score 2-1.

The Lady Chargers are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Dowling College in a non-conference game at 4pm.
