Blauvelt, NY (9/19/06)   The Post University women's soccer team held on for a 2-1 victory over host Dominican College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action this afternoon at the DC Soccer Field.

The Eagles scored the game's first goal at 17:06 as junior Shannon Firetto (Vernon, CT) and Kelli Veras (Trumbull, CT) assisted Kaitlyn Dleaney's (Springfield, MA) shot past the DC goal keeper for a 1-0 lead.

Dominican answered bacm a minute later as Stacey Ryan (Mahopac, NY) converted a penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1.

Post ended the scoring as Veras netted a goal on a break away at 35:55 to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead.

Post keeper Karalee Desrosiers (Granby, MA) had five saves in the win, while Lady Charger keeper Valentina Sturchio (Stewartsville, NJ) had four saves.

With the win, Post improves to 4-4-1 overall and 3-0 in the CACC, while Dominican falls to 2-5-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the CACC.

The Lady Chargers are back in action on Saturday when the travel to Merrimack College in a non-conference game scheduled for 1:30 pm.
