Dominicans Correia Named CACC Rookie of the Year

Two Dominican Soccer Players Earn All-CACC Honors

Blauvelt, NY (11/2/05)Dominican College womens soccer player, Angela Correia (Elizabeth, NJ) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Year, as was announced today by the conference office. Fellow teammates Jen Ditzig (Brick, NJ) and Stacey Ryan (Mahopac, NY) earned All-Conference Honors.

Correia, a graduate of Elizabeth High School, is tied for sixth in the conference in points with 20 and she is fourth in points per-game with 1.43. Furthermore, she stands eighth with seven goals scored and is tied for fifth with six assists. She led DC in both goals (7) and assists (6), along with having the most points on the team (20). Besides being named Rookie of the Year, Correia earned All-CACC Second Team honors.

Sophomore Ditzig, a graduate of Monsignor Donovan High School, earned All-CACC First Team honors for her stellar defensive play this season. She played in all nineteen games this year and tallied five goals.

Ryan, a Mahopac native, received All-CACC Honorable Mention honors. She is currently a captain of the Lady Charger squad and has played in all nineteen games this year. Along with Ditzig, she is an instrumental part of the DC defense. This is her second All-CACC honor as she was named to the First Team last year and was also named to the 2004 All-CACC Tournament Team.
