2012-2013 Dominican College Women’s Lacrosse Season Summary
The Dominican College women’s lacrosse program finished with an overall record of 7-8 and a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) record of 7-3. The Lady Chargers set a new team season records in assists this season and earned the second seed in the north division in the CACC Tournament.
In the conference tournament, the Lady Chargers lost a heartbreaker, 13-12, to the top seed in the south division, Philadelphia University.
Sophomore attacker Allison Smithwick led the team in goals and total points, while finishing third in assists. For her efforts, she was named to the All-CACC First Team
Freshman Christina Brennan led the team in assists and ground balls. She finished tied for second in goals scored and was second in total points. She also received All-CACC First Team accolades.
Junior Olivia Antonopoulos was also named to the All-CACC First Team this season. Antonopoulos was second on the team in both ground ball and caused turnovers. She ranked 13th in the conference in caused turnovers and 14th in ground balls.
Attacker Amanda Shelton also had a solid rookie season after finishing tied for second in goals and third in total points.
Rookie goalie, Brittany Kiernan started all 15 games this season and posted a .439 save percentage. She made 119 saves in the net to finish in the top five in the CACC in both saves and save percentage.
The team graduates six seniors this season: three-year team captain Elizabeth Schmidt, Michelle Fiorvanti, Brianna Blank, Whitney Ranger, Rachel Romanowski and manager Dominique Labate.
