WOMEN'S LACROSSE TURNS BACK GEORGIAN COURT UNIVERSITY
Lakewood, NJ (4/17/12) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team avenged a loss earlier in the season to host Georgian Court University by downing the Lions, 21-13, this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play held at the GCU Track & Field Complex. With the win, Dominican improves to 5-7 overall and 5-4 in the CACC and earns their first win against GCU in program and conference history.

Sophomore KC Jentzen (Pearl River, NY) led all scorers with a career high seven goals on the day and added two assists for a career high nine points.
Freshman midfielder Gina Sparaco (Freeport, NY) tied her career high with four goals as she also netted four goals in the earlier season loss to GCU and added one assist for a total five points.
The game was tied at 8-8 after one half of play when the Lady Chargers went on an offensive tear, outscoring the Lions in the second half, 13-5. DC opened second half play with a 3-0 run as Jentzen tallied her third goal of the game with 26:53 to go. Freshman midfielder Lauren Arnone (Neptune City, NJ) scored back-to-back goals off two assists from Allison Smithwick (Commack, NY) to give Dominican an 11-8 advantage with 21:46 on the clock.
After a 2-0 spurt by GCU, the Lady Chargers exploded for nine straight goals, spanning a period of a little over eleven minutes to pull ahead 20-10. In that time, Jenzten recorded four goals, while Emily Murray (Oakdale, NY) and Sparaco netted two goals a-piece.
The Lions scored three unanswered goals, before Dominican closed out the game with Ariana Tharrington (Red Bank, NJ) scoring her first collegiate goal off the pass from Jenzten with 27 ticks left on the clock for the 21-13 final score.
Goalie Veronica Iozzi (Chester, NJ) made four saves in the win.
Dominican is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Wilmington University in a CACC contest.
