WOMEN'S LACROSSE EDGE PHILADELPHIA UNIVERSITY
Philadelphia, PA (3/24/12) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team improved to 2-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play and to 2-4 overall after defeating host, Philadelphia University, 13-10, this afternoon. With the loss, the Rams fall to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in the CACC.

Freshman attacker Allison Smithwick (Commack, NY) led all scorers with six goals on the day.
Sophomore Brianna Blank (Point Pleasant, NJ) and Gina Sparaco (Freeport, NY) each added two goals, while Traci-Joan Muniz (Middlesex, NJ), Aubree Williams* (Great Meadows, NJ) and Emily Murray (Oakdale, NY) all scored a goal.
DC never trailed in the first half as they scored the first goal just 39 seconds into the game and led 7-3 with 10:08 left before halftime. The Rams began what would be a 7-0 run with three goals before the end of the first half to see the DC lead cut to 7-6.
The Lady Chargers trailed 10-7 with 27:29 left in the second half when the offense came alive as they charged ahead with six unanswered goals to give them the 13-10 victory. Smithwick scored back-to-back goals and Williams netted the 10th DC goal with 13:12 to play. Smithwick put the Lady Chargers ahead with 9:33 on the clock, while Muniz and Sparaco closed out the game with goals.
Goalie Veronica Iozzi (Chester, NJ) made six saves in the victory.
Dominican returns to action on Monday as they travel to non-conference opponent, Queens College.
