WOMEN'S LACROSSE TABBED THIRD IN PRESEASON POLL
New Haven, CT (2/8/12) Philadelphia has been chosen first in the 2012 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's lacrosse pre-season poll, which was voted upon by the seven head coaches. The Rams finished last season second in the conference standings with a 10-2 record and an 11-7 overall. Georgian Court picked up two of the seven first-place votes. Holy Family and Dominican tied for third in the voting with 24 points apiece.

Holy Family and Dominican tied for third in the voting with 24 points apiece.
Philadelphia looks to finished where they left off as fourth year head coach George Chis-Luca earned CACC Coach of the Year in 2011 and had a conference-high seven players on the All-CACC team. One of those players Senior Midfielder Caribeth Shappell is the reigning CACC Player of the Year. Caribeth finished the season with 29 goals, 30 assists, and a 55% face-off percentage. Philadelphia also will be returning Senior Attacker Taylor Peltzer (48 goals, 27 assists), Sophomore Attack/Midfielder Emily Ray (54 goals, 10 assists), and Sophomore Midfielder Carli DiCioccio (25 ground balls, 23 caused turnovers).
Georgian Court received two first place votes as their second year coach Jackie McGarrigle finished last season with a perfect 12-0 record in conference play and 15-4 overall. The Lions have won the CACC Tournament two years straight with hopes for a third. Georgian Court graduated CACC Tournament MVP Attacker Ryan McGrath (71 goals, 44 assists, 44, groundballs) and Midfielder Lauren Conaty (32 goals, 7 assists). Key returners for the Lions are Sophomore Defender Stephanie Gallo (53 ground balls, 40 draw controls), Sophomore Midfielder Molly McCourt (31 goals, 7 assists) and Junior Goalie Jennifer Molzon (130 saves, .461 save percent).
The 2012 season starts on March 1 with Post playing host to Bridgeport. The conference games will kick off when Post plays Philadelphia on March 11. The CACC Women's Lacrosse Tournament will be held at Georgian Court University on May 5-6 in Lakewood, N.J., for the fourth straight year.
