HOLY FAMILY UNIVERSITY RALLYS TO DEFEAT WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Philadelphia, PA (4/16/11) The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team rallied from a 7-2 first half deficit and outscored the Dominican College Lady Chargers, 7-5, in the second half to win a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game, 14-12, this afternoon. With the loss Dominican falls to 6-5 overall and 5-4 in conference play.

Senior midfielder Silje Karlsen (Vernon, NJ) led the Lady Chargers with four goals. Sarah Kiernan (Saugerties, NY) netted three goals, while Traci-Joan Muniz (Middlesex, NJ) and Maggie Brocklebank (Long Branch, NJ) each scored two goals a-piece in the loss.
Freshman goalie Amanda Caprio (Point Pleasant, NJ) made nine saves.
Dominican scored four goals in the first 9:20 of the first half to take a 4-0 lead. Karlsen netted the first two goals of the contest, while Brocklebank tallied her first goal of the game just over a minute later off an assist from Muniz. Muniz netted her 10th goal of the game on a free position shot for the 4-0 lead.
The Tigers got a goal with 19:36 left to play, but Kiernan scored back-to-back goals to regain a 6-1 lead. After Holy Family netted their second goal, Kiernan completed the hat trick with the seventh DC goal of the half with 11:50 to go in the half. Holy Family closed out the first half with a 5-0 run to tie the game at 7-7.
Brocklebank scored the first goal of the second half to put the Lady Chargers up, 8-7, but three unanswered Tiger goals gave them their first lead of the game, 10-8. Karlsen scored her third goal of the game with 20:21 left to play to bring DC within a goal, 10-9, but a free position goal by Holy Family made the score 11-9.
Sophomore Brianna Blank (Point Pleasant, NJ) netted an unassisted goal with 18:09 to play to cut the deficit to one goal, but a 2-0 spurt by the Tigers put them up 13-10. Muniz took a pass from Elizabeth Schmidt (Montgomery, NY) to score her 11th goal of the season with 9:37 on the clock, but less than a minute later HFU regained a three goal lead, 14-11.
Karlsen netted the game's last goal with 1:38 to go for the final, 14-12 victory.
