WOMEN'S LACROSSE FALL IN SEASON OPENER
Flushing, NY (3/911) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team lost their opening game of the 2011 campaign after falling to host, Queens College, 22-5, this afternoon in a non-conference match up. With the loss Dominican falls to 0-1 on the season, while Queens improves to 3-1.

Freshman midfielder Maggie Brocklebank (Long Branch, NJ) recorded her first collegiate goal and the first goal of the 2011 season for the Lady Chargers as they took a 1-0 lead on the free position shot with 28:44 to go in the first half.
Two QC goals put them ahead 2-1, but back-to-back DC goals from freshman midfielder Traci Muniz (Middlesex, NJ), also her first collegiate goal, and junior Aubree Williams (Great Meadows, NJ) regained a one goal lead, 3-2, with 23:19 to go before halftime.
Another 2-0 run by the Knights put them back ahead, but Brianna Blank (Point Pleasant, NJ) tied the game at 4-4 with her first goal of the season with 20:58 on the clock. Queens proceeded to go on a 6-0 tear over the next 11 minutes or so to go ahead 10-4, before Brocklebank tallied her second goal of the contest at the 8:11 mark. Three more QC goals made the score 13-5 at the intermission.
Queens took command in the second half, scoring all nine goals for the final 22-5 victory.
Brocklebank finished with two goals and one assist, while Muniz tallied one goal and one assist. Blank and Williams scored the other DC goals.
Freshman goalie Amanda Caprio (Point Pleasant, NJ) made 11 saves in the loss.
