WOMEN'S LACROSSE LOSE THIRD STRAIGHT TO WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY
New Castle, DE (3/20/10) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to host Wilmington University, 17-3 this afternoon. With the WU victory, they have swept the season series with the Lady Chargers.
Dominican netted the game's first goal on a free position shot by freshman Elizabeth Schmidt (Montgomery, NY) just 2:51 into the game to take a 1-0 lead. The 'Cats went on a 7-0 tear before junior attacker Amanda Matos (Vernon, NJ) netted the unassisted goal to make the score 7-2 at the intermission.
The Lady Chargers opened the second half just like they started the game on a free position goal by junior Silje Karlsen (Vernon, NJ) to cut the Wilmington lead to 7-3. WU then exploded for 10 unanswered goals as they went on to the 17-3 victory.
Lady Charger goalie Lindsey Grundfast (Saugerties, NY) recorded 12 saves in the loss.
With the loss Dominican falls to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to CACC opponent, Philadelphia University for a 4pm game.
