WOMEN'S LACROSSE LOSE TO CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE

Orangeburg, NY (4/7/09) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to host Chestnut Hill College, 18-9 this afternoon.
The Griffins opened up the first minute of the game with a goal, before DC went on a 2-0 spurt with unassisted goals from Amanda Matos (Vernon, NJ) and Silje Karlsen (Vernon, NJ). CHC knotted the game at 2-2 with an unassisted goal and less than a minute later freshman Aubree Williams (Great Meadows, NJ) converted a free position shot to regain a 3-2 advantage.
CHC took control of the game going on a 11-0 run to build a commanding 13-3 lead. Junior attacker Ashley Ordemann (Toms River, NJ) stopped the run with a goal off the pass from Sarah Kiernan (Saugerties, NY) with 17:53 left in regulation and Williams followed with her second free position goal of the game to cut the lead to 13-5.
Chestnut Hill outscored Dominican 5-4 over the remaining 14:24 of the game with Lady Chargers goals scored by Kiernan, Matos, Karlsen and Williams with Karlsen adding an assist as CHC went on to the 18-9 victory.
Williams and Karlsen led the Lady Chargers with three points a piece as Williams had the hat trick of three goals and Karlsen netted two goals and one assist. Kiernan and Matos finished with two points each and Ordemann finished with a goal.
DC goalie Lindsey Grundfast (Saugerties, NY) had 17 saves in the loss.
With the win Chestnut Hill College improves to 7-4 overall and 4-2 in the CACC, while Dominican falls to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in the CACC.
