Manhattanville jumped out to a 4-0 lead when the Lady Chargers got on the board when junior attacker Ashley Ordemann (Toms River, NJ) netted an unassisted goal with 25:15 left in the first half. The Valiants went on a 6-0 tear to take a 10-1 lead with just over 20 minutes left in the half.
DC scored three unanswered goals as freshman Aubree Williams (Great Meadows, NJ) picked up her third and fourth goals of the season, followed by a free position goal by Sarah Kiernan (Saugerties, NY) to cut the lead to 10-4.
The Valiants netted six more goals in the first half, while Lady Chargers Silje Karlsen (Vernon, NJ) and Williams added goals for a 16-6 halftime score.
Dominican opened up the second half with six unanswered goals to cut the Valiant lead to 16-10. Ordemann opened up the half with two consecutive goals, followed by two straight goals by Kiernan.
Sophomore Amanda Matos (Vernon, NJ) picked up her first goal of the season off the pass by Williams and Ordemann netted her fourth goal of the game. Matos ended the DC scoring with her second goal off another dish by Williams as the Valiants took the 18-13 win.
Williams led DC with five points on the day (3 goals, 2 assists), while Ordemann finished with four points (4 goals) and Kiernan had three points (3 goals.
Junior goalie Lindsey Grundfast (Saugerties, NY) had 19 saves in the loss.
With the victory, Manhattanville improves to 3-0 on the season, while Dominican falls to 0-2.
Dominican is back in action on Thursday when they open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action with a home game against Philadelphia University.
