GEORGIAN COURT UNIVERSITY DEFEATS LADY CHARGERS LACROSSE

Orangeburg, NY (4/16/09) The Georgian Court University Lions defeated the visiting Dominican College Lady Chargers, 17-6 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's lacrosse action this afternoon.
The Lions took control of the offense early as they began the game with a 7-0 run until freshman Aubree Williams (Great Meadows, NJ) netted the unassisted goal to get DC on the board.
GCU went on another spurt with four straight goals, but DC went on a 2-0 run as Williams and attacker Amanda Matos (Vernon, NJ) tallied goals off assists from Silje Karlsen (Vernon, NJ) and Williams to cut the lead to 11-3. The Lions netted a goal before the half ended and held a dominating 12-3 lead at the break.
Matos started the scoring in the second half with her second goal of the game off another dish by Karlsen, but GCU once again put together another 4-0 run to extend their lead to 16-4. Matos scored her third goal of the game off another dish by Karlsen and added her fourth with just over 12 minutes left in the game off another assist by Karlsen as GCU went on to the 17-6 victory.
Matos and Karlsen led the Lady Chargers with four points each as Matos netted four goals and Karlsen tallied four assists. Williams finished with three points (two goals, one assist). Junior goalie Lindsey Grundfast (Saugerties, NY) had 17 saves in the loss.
GCU improved to 12-2 overall and remained perfect in the CACC at 9-0 with the win, while DC falls to 2-9 and 1-7 in the CACC.
