Women's Lacrosse

LADY CHARGERS LACROSSE LOSE TO PHILADELPHIA UNIVERSITY

Philadelphia, PA (5/3/08)  The Dominican College women's lacrosse team lost their final game of the 2008 season, 20-7 to host Philadelphia University this afternoon.

The Rams opened up the first half with a 7-0 run until Amanda Matos (Vernon, NJ) scored an unassisted goal.  Philadelphia then went on a 9-0 run when Matos struck again off the pass from Althea Chambers (Yonkers, NY) as Philadelphia held a 16-2 lead.

After another Ram goal, Matos knotched her third goal of the day and led off the second half with her fourth goal to make the score 17-3.

Chambers scored the next DC goal, followed by Matos's fifth goal of the game to cut the Ram lead to 19-5.  Chambers scored the last two DC goal's off assists by Akirrah Cooper (Bronx, NY) and Matos as the Ram's went on to the 20-7 victory.

Matos finished the day with five goals and one assist to lead the Lady Chargers.  Chambers had three goals.

Goalie Lindsey Grundfast (Saugerties, NY) had nine saves in the loss.

With the loss the Lady Chargers end the season with a 2-12 record and set a school record for most wins in a season.
