Spartans Defeat Lady Chargers Lacrosse, 16-8

Blauvelt, NY (04/19/07)          The visiting Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College defeated Dominican College, 16-8 this afternoon at the DC Lacrosse Field in women’s lacrosse action. 

The Spartans held a 3-0 lead until freshman Ashley Ordemann (Toms River, NJ) scored with 23:38 left in the first half.  STAC responded with four answered goals to take a 7-1 lead, but Ordemann netted her second goal of the game off the pass by Althea Chambers (Yonkers, NY) to cut the lead to 8-2 at the intermission.

Chambers netted a free position goal with 2:56 left in the game to make the score 14-7, but St. Thomas Aquinas responded with two straight goals en route to the 16-8 victory. 

Jennifer Bruen (Tappan, NY), Lindsay Lawless (North Caldwell, NJ) and Kim DeLorenzo (Valley Cottage, NY) led the Spartans with three goals a piece, while Lawless and Bruen each had two assists.  Summer Terpak (Haverstraw, NY) and Taryn Brechbiel (Garnerville, NY) each had two goals in the win.

Ordemann led DC with five goals, while Chambers netted the other three Lady Charger goals. 

Kailey Brown (Madison, CT) picked up the win for the Spartans with eight saves. 

DC goalie Lindsey Grundfast (Saugerties, NY) got the loss as she recorded eight saves. 

With the win, St. Thomas Aquinas improves to 3-6 on the year, while DC falls to 0-5.

The Lady Chargers are back in action on Saturday, April 21st when they host Georgian Court University at 1:00 pm on the DC Lacrosse Field.
