LADY CHARGERS EARN OVERTIME VICTORY OVER PHILADELPHIA UNIVERSITY

(2/14/13) The Dominican College women's basketball team earned a 76-74 overtime victory over host, Philadelphia University this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at the Gallagher Center. With the win, the Lady Chargers improve to 16-8 overall and 13-4 in conference play.

(2/14/13) The Dominican College women's basketball team earned a 76-74 overtime victory over host, Philadelphia University this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at the Gallagher Center. With the win, the Lady Chargers improve to 16-8 overall and 13-4 in conference play.
The Rams held a seven-point lead (36-29) with 3:33 to go in the first half, but junior forward KC Jentzen (Pearl River, N.Y.) closed out the half with back-to-back baskets to cut the deficit to 36-33.
A 10-0 run early in the second half turned a five-point deficit into a five-point advantage for Dominican as seniors Lindsey Lopez* (Elmwood Park, N.J.) and Shannon Lavelle* (Floral Park, N.Y.) hit consecutive treys for a 49-44 lead with 13:18 left in regulation.
DC was up 64-59 with 2:12 to go but four quick points by Philadelphia cut the lead to a point with a minute and a half to go. Forward Bianca Harris* (Teaneck, N.J.) scored a layup to put Dominican ahead by three (66-63), but a 1-2 performance from the free throw line and two free throws with no time left on the clock made the score 66-all.
The game was tied with 53 ticks left in overtime at 74-74 when a Harris jumper in the paint put the Lady Chargers ahead 76-74 with 29 seconds to go. The Lady Charger defense forced a Ram turnover to solidify the victory.
Harris and Jentzen led three Lady Chargers in double figures as they each had a game leading 20 points and a team leading nine rebounds.
Guard LaShonda Hathorne (Queens, N.Y.) finished with 14 points.
Dominican is back in action on Saturday afternoon as the team hosts Goldey-Beacom College on Senior Day at the Hennessy Center. Game time is set for 1pm.
