WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHARGE PAST CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE

Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/26/13) The Dominican College women's basketball team charged past the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill College, 57-48, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. Today, the Lady Chargers also celebrated the 12th Annual Sue Heller Memorial Basketball Game.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/26/13)  The Dominican College women's basketball team charged past the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill College, 57-48, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.  Today, the Lady Chargers also celebrated the 12th Annual Sue Heller Memorial Basketball Game.

Before the game, the Lady Chargers held a ceremony in honor of Sue Heller and awarded the annual Sue Heller Scholarship to junior, Nicole Welton (Southbury, Conn.).

The Lady Chargers never trailed in the contest as they held a 12-4 lead early in the first half and closed out the half with the final five points to take a 33-21 lead at the intermission.

Guard LaShonda Hathorne (Queens, N.Y.) paced the Lady Chargers in the first stanza with 12 points and six rebounds.

DC led by as many as 15 points in the second half Hathorne ended the scoring by going 1-2 from the free throw line for the final 57-48 victory.

Hathorne led three Lady Chargers in double figures with 17 points and added eight rebounds.

Senior Lindsey Lopez* (Elmwood Park, N.J.) finsihed with 16 points, while forward KC Jentzen (Pearl River, N.Y.) scored 10 points and six caroms.

Forward Bianca Harris* (Teaneck, N.J.) tallied seven points, three steals and a game leading 10 rebounds in the win.

Following the victory, Dominican improves to 12-6 overall and 9-2 in the CACC.

DC is back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Caldwell College.
