LADY CHARGERS HOLD OFF BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE

(1/7/13) The Dominican College women's basketball team held of a late rally to defeat the visiting Deacons of Bloomfield College, 59-52, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the win, Dominican improve to 8-5 overall and 5-1 in the conference.

With the win, Dominican improve to 8-5 overall and 5-1 in the conference.
Bloomfield cut the deficit to 43-41 with just under seven minutes remaining in the second stanza when the Lady Chargers went on a 10-0 run, capped off by a layup from senior Bianca Harris* (Teaneck, N.J.) to rebuild a 51-41 lead with 3:30 remaining. From there the lead never went below six points as DC went on to the 59-52 victory.
Dominican led by as many as eight points in the first half, but the Deacons scored the final four points to make the score 26-22 at the intermission.
Sophomore LaShonda Hathorne (Queens, N.Y.) led three Lady Chargers in double figures with 17 points and a game leading 12 rebounds and four assists.
KC Jentzen (Pearl River, N.Y.) netted 13 points and six boards, while Harris finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Dominican shot 57.1% (12-21) from the floor in the second half, compared to just 32.3% (10-31) in the first stanza to finish the contest at 42.3% (22-52). The Lady Chargers were 10-13 (76.9%) from the charity stripe.
DC is back in CACC action on Wednesday evening as they host Concordia College at 6pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
