NEW YORK INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND MERRIMACK WIN ON NIGHT ONE OF DANIEL SULLIVAN MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT

(11/16/12) New York Institute of Technology and Merrimack College each won on night one of the 1st Annual Daniel Sullivan Memorial Basketball Tournament being hosted by Dominican College. NYIT defeated Nyack College in the first game of the night, 80-44, while the Warriors of Merrimack College topped the Dominican College Lady Chargers, 65-45.

NYIT defeated Nyack College in the first game of the night, 80-44, while the Warriors of Merrimack College topped the Dominican College Lady Chargers, 65-45.
Dominican led 11-7 with 13:34 remaining in the first half when the Warriors took charge with a 31-10 run over the next ten and a half minutes to go ahead 38-21 and held a 41-25 advantage at the break.
Merrimack shot 50% from the floor in the first stanza and limited the Lady Chargers to just 37.5% shooting from the floor and were 0-7 from the three point arc.
DC cut the lead to single digits three times in the second half, but would not get any closer than nine points as MC went on to the 65-45 victory.
Senior guard Lindsey Lopez (Elmwood Park, N.J.) led the Lady Chargers with 11 points, shooting a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe.
KC Jentzen (Pearl River, N.Y.) finished with nine points, while Bianca Harris (Teaneck, N.J.) had a team leading eight rebounds and four steals.
LaShonda Hathorne (Queens, N.Y.) had eight points in the loss.
In the first contest of night, NYIT went on a 19-0 run to go ahead 23-4 with 11:03 left in the first half and never looked back en route to the 80-44 win.
In tomorrow's action, Merrimack College will take on Nyack College at 12pm and NYIT will face Dominican College at 2pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
