(11/11/12) The Dominican College women's basketball team fell to American International College, 59-44, this afternoon in the third game of the AIC Tip-Off Classic played at the Butova Gymnasium. With the loss, Dominican falls to 1-1 on the season while the Yellow Jackets improve to 2-0.

Sophomore guard LaShonda Hathorne (Queens, N.Y.) led the Lady Chargers with nine points.
Freshman Deja Gabbidon (Teaneck, N.J.) came off the bench to score eight points, while senior Bianca Harris (Teaneck, N.J.) led the team with seven rebounds and six points.
KC Jentzen (Pearl River, N.Y.) also scored six points in the loss.
In the first half, AIC took a nne point led (20-11) with just over seven minutes left in the first half. DC charged back with seven unanswered points to cut the deficit to 20-18, but the Yellow Jackets outscored the Lady Chargers, 7-4 over the final five minutes to hold a 27-22 lead at the break.
AIC quickly extended their lead to 10 points (35-25) early in the second half and led by as many as 25 points. The Lady Chargers trailed 59-39 with just under three minutes left in the contest, but closed out the game with five consecutive points for the final 59-44 score.
Dominican struggled from the floor, shooting just 25% (13-52) and were 4-16 from the three point arc.
The Lady Chargers open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play on Wednesday evening when they travel to Concordia College.
