FELICIAN TOPS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Rutherford, NJ (2/14/12) The Dominican College women's basketball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to host, Felician College, 59-47, this evening in a game played at Job Gym. With the loss Dominican falls to 11-12 overall and 10-6 in conference play, while Felician improves to 16-7 overall and 13-3 in the CACC.

Rutherford, NJ (2/14/12)  The Dominican College women's basketball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to host, Felician College, 59-47, this evening in a game played at Job Gym.  With the loss Dominican falls to 11-12 overall and 10-6 in conference play, while Felician improves to 16-7 overall and 13-3 in the CACC.

DC struggled offensively, shooting just 28.3% (15-53) from the floor.  The team was better overall from the three point arc as they went 7-16 (43.8%) and finished 10-14 (71.4%) from the free throw line.

The Lady Chargers trailed 16-10 with 11:50 to play in the first half when guards Shannon Lavelle* (Floral Park, NY) and Kaity Lent* (Vineland, NJ) hite back-to-back three point buckets to tie the score at 16-all.  Later tied at 18-18, the Golden Falcons closed out the remaining eight minutes of the stanza with an 8-1 run to hold a 26-19 advantage at the intermission.

Felician kept things going in the second half as they started off with an 7-2 run to go up 33-21 and led by as many as 14 points (43-29) with 12:22 on the clock en route to the 59-47 win.

Lavelle led the way for the Lady Chargers with 15 points.  Lindsey Lopez (Elmwood Park, NJ) finished with nine points and six assists, while Bianca Harris (Teaneck, NJ) grabbed a team leading nine rebounds.

Dominican returns to action on Thursday when they travel to CACC North Division foe, Caldwell College.  Game time is set for 6pm.
