WOMEN'S BASKETBALL BEATS NYACK COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (2/9/12) The Dominican College women's basketball team defeated the visiting Warriors of Nyack College, 72-49, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the win, Dominican improves to 11-10 overall and 10-4 in conference play, while Nyack falls to 1-18 overall and 1-14 in the CACC.

The first half saw the Lady Chargers score 10 unanswered points to quickly take a 10-0 lead. DC lead 21-8 with 6:20 to go in the first stanza, but the Warriors cut the deficit to 26-18 with just under three and a half minutes to play. An 8-2 run by Dominican ended the first half with the scoring being 36-22.
KC Jentzen (Pearl River, NY) and LaShonda Hathorne (Queens, NY) led the Lady Chargers as they each scored 10 points, with Jentzen shooting 4-4 from the floor.
Nyack opened the second half with five straight points to cut the deficit to single digits (36-27), but that would be as close as they would get as DC went on a 6-0 run to go ahead 42-27 and led by as many as 28 points (65-37) with 4:50 to play en route to the 72-49 victory.
Jentzen led all scorers and four Lady Chargers in double figures with 14 points and had seven rebounds. Hathorne finished with 13 points and five boards, while sisters Samantha Klunk (York, PA) and Marley Klunk (York, PA) each scored 10 points a piece, with M. Klunk grabbing a team leading eight rebounds.
Dominican is back in action on Saturday when they host Philadelphia University in a CACC contest scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm. Saturday will also be the 11th Annual Sue Heller Memorial Game on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
