SECOND HALF RALLY FALLS SHORT AS GRIFFINS EDGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Philadelphia, PA (1/24/12) The Dominican College women's basketball team rallied after scoring just 16 points in the first half to net 34 points in the second but it wasn't enough as the fell to host, Chestnut Hill College, 55-50 this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at the Sorgenti Arena. With the loss Dominican falls to 7-7 overall and 7-2 in conference play.

With the loss Dominican falls to 7-7 overall and 7-2 in conference play.
Dominican trailed 40-28 with just under twelve minutes remaining in the second half when they charged back with a 16-6 run, spanning over a period of 10 minutes and capped off by back-to-back treys from guard Shannon Lavelle* (Floral Park, NY), to cut lead to one basket, 46-44. DC trailed 53-50 with 17 ticks left on the clock, but Chestnut Hill closed out the game with three free throws and causing a turnover for the 55-50 victory.
Lavelle led two Lady Chargers in double figures with 17 points and netted the team's final 12 points of the contest. Senior Marley Klunk (York, PA) added 10 points and five rebounds in the loss.
KC Jentzen (Nanuet, NY) grabbed five rebounds off the bench, while Kaity Lent* (Vineland, NJ) had a team leading four assists.
DC is back in action on Thursday when they travel to CACC North Division rival, Nyack College, for a 6pm game.
