WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEATS CONCORDIA COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (12/3/11) The Dominican College women's basketball team improved to 2-4 overall and 2-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play with a 72-65 victory over the visiting Concordia College Clippers this afternoon in a game played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the loss, Concordia falls to 1-7 overall and 2-0 in the CACC.

With the loss, Concordia falls to 1-7 overall and 2-0 in the CACC.
In the first half, the score was tied eight times with the last one coming with 2:56 remaining in the first half as guard Shannon Lavelle (Floral Park, NY) hit a three-point basket to make the score 32-32. KC Jentzen (Pearl River, NY) gave DC a 33-32 lead with a free throw, but the Clippers closed out the half with five straight points for a 38-33 lead at the intermission.
Concordia extended their lead to 42-32 in the first 50 seconds of the second half when the Lady Chargers charged back with a 11-2 run to tie the game at 44-44. Tied at 47-all with 12:17 to play, Dominican went on a 13-3 run over the next almost six minutes to go ahead 60-50 and would never lose that lead en route to the 72-65 victory.
Lindsey Lopez (Elmwood Park, NJ) led one of four Lady Chargers in double figures with 18 points. The bench was productive for the Lady Chargers as LaShonda Hathorne (Queens, NY) netted 13 points (5-7 from the floor) and Jentzen finished with 12 points and a team leading nine rebounds. Forward Bianca Harris (Teaneck, NJ) scored 10 points and seven caroms, while Lavelle had a game leading eight assists and seven points in the victory.
DC returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to CACC North Division foe, Bloomfield College. Game time is 6pm.
