WOMEN'S BASKETBALL UPENDED BY NEW YORK INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Orangeburg, NY (11/28/11) The Dominican College women's basketball team dropped their fourth straight game this evening to the visiting Bears from the New York Institute of Technology, 63-42, in a non-conference match-up played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the loss Dominican falls to 0-4 overall, while NYIT improves to 3-3 on the season.

With the loss Dominican falls to 0-4 overall, while NYIT improves to 3-3 on the season.
The Bears held a 13-7 lead with 12:41 to go in the first half when a 10-4 Lady Charger run tied the score at 17-17. Later tied at 21-all with 6:43 to go before the intermission, a Bears three piont basket game them the lead, but a layup by KC Jentzen (Pearl River, NY) brought DC within a point. A Samantha Klunk (York, PA) layup gave Dominican a 25-24 advantage, but a NYIT trey with 24 ticks left before the half gave the Bears a 27-25 lead at the break.
NYIT took control in the second half, outscoring the Lady Chargers 12-2 over the first four and half minutes to go ahead 39-27 and never lost a double-digit lead en route to the 63-42 victory.
Freshman LaShonda Hathorne (Queens, NY) led Dominican with nine points off the bench. Guard Shannon Lavelle* (Floral Park, NY) added eight points, along with Jentzen. Bianca Harris (Teaneck, NJ), Marley Klunk (York, PA) and S. Klunk all grabbed a game leading seven rebounds each in the loss.
Dominican returns to action on Wednesday night when they host Caldwell College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game slated to begin at 6pm on Coach Baxter Court.
